Free Enterprise Agenda

The goal of our Free Enterprise Initiative is to encourage policies that lead to continued economic growth in Georgia. By applying sound economic principles to Georgia's economic challenges, the Foundation presents research and programs in the areas of legal reform, government regulation, and tax and spending policy.

  • The Foundation’s independence and reputation for accuracy has made it an effective voice for limited government and economic growth.

  • The Foundation’s work on privatization is credited with making Georgia one of the leading states in the nation to utilize the private sector in reducing costs and improving services. Our in-depth series of privatization "how to" guides provided state and local governments with valuable resources and helped them avoid the problems experienced in other states.

  • The Foundation’s Report Card on Taxes, first published in 1998, gave Georgians for the first time ever a comparison of the actual federal, state and local taxes paid by families in every tax jurisdiction in the state. Thanks to the atmosphere the Foundation helped to create, tax cuts are no longer a question of -if- but of -how much.- Georgia taxpayers are now paying $2 billion less than they would have without the tax reductions enacted in the last 10 years.

  • The Foundation has provided objective analysis on deregulation of telecommunications, electrical and natural gas utilities, as well as investigating over-regulations of industries ranging from home health care to e-commerce.

The Foundation serves as a watchdog over government waste and corruption, again utilizing our independence to ask questions that others are either unable or unwilling to put forward.
